A WINTER DREAM
Just a few years after its inception, The Ice St. Moritz event confirms its place amongst the most exciting and glamorous events on the automotive calendar thanks to its unique setting. Impeccably organised in the beautiful Swiss resort town of St. Moritz as a weekend full of high-speed thrills and luxury, this event brings together some of the world's most impressive cars and their drivers.
The frozen Lake St. Moritz serves as the perfect backdrop for both and new shiny metal and patinated classics, from high-performance hypercars to those of the vintage variety. 48 cars divided into 5 classes are lined up to be examined during the Concours of Elegance by a jury that includes ex-Centro Stile, currently head of Maserati design, Klaus Busse. A man most suited for the job, as the Italian brands were well represented: in the good company of the racing Maseratis and the ever stylish Ferraris, three Alfas stood out, representing three separate golden ages: the 8C 2300 Monza of the “Open Wheels”, a gorgeous 6C 2500 SS “Villa d’Este” in the “Queens on Wheels” category and last but not least the glorious Tipo 33/3 in the “Le Mans 100” celebratory class. Elsewhere in the concept cars category, the otherworldly Lancia Sibilo from the Lopresto Collection (which we had the pleasure to visit two years ago) stood out, even if it had to go against the absolute showstopper Lancia Stratos concept.
But the standout feature of the event has to be the ice driving experience: driving on the frozen lake is one of the most exciting and unique activities at the Ice St Moritz event. This year the snow shenanigans had a dedicated second day of the event, allowing participants more time to experience the thrill of ice driving. The frozen lake provides a challenging and unique driving surface, with slippery ice and snow creating an environment that requires drivers to be highly skilled and precise. One could say this is done not just as a thrill-seeking - it's also an opportunity for drivers to improve their driving skills in a unique and challenging environment. Many of the cars used for the ice driving experience are equipped with special studded tires, allowing them to grip the ice more effectively and provide a thrilling driving experience.
But it's not just about speed and power at the Ice St Moritz event. With such a glamorous location this is a unique chance for car enthusiasts to mingle with other like-minded individuals and indulge in some of the finer things in life. Next to the ice track there is a bar and food curt area that offers a unique and classy experience for attendees: one can relax for a moment and enjoy the stunning panorama of the surrounding Alps, while a waiters glide waiters in ice skates glide gracefully between tables, serving glasses of champagne and other refreshments with style and elegance.
Of course, the cars themselves are the real stars of the show at the Ice St Moritz event. Don’t let yourself be too intimidated by the high-end setting: at heart The ICE St. Moritz offers everyone the chance to see some of the most impressive cars in the world up close and personal, and to experience the thrill of high speed driving in a way that few people ever get to. Whether you're a seasoned petrolhead or simply appreciate the beauty of cars, this is an event that will leave you feeling inspired and amazed.

Alfas are unreliable and dangerous slaves. They frequently revolt and kill their masters. I love them.
